Dyed Howlite Bead String - 8mm Round
Howlite was discovered in Nova Scotia, Canada in the nineteenth century. It is an opaque stone which forms irregular nodules. Howlite is usually white or grey with a web like pattern of black marbling and has a sub vitreous lustre.
As howlite is quite a porous stone, it is quite often dyed a bright blue to imitate turquoise (sometimes known as turquenite) and is occasionally dyed a dark blue to imitate lapis lazuli.
Howlite is quite a soft mineral, measuring 3.5 on Moh's scale of hardness.
These beautiful dyed howlite round 8mm beads are strung on a temporary string which will contain approximately 49 beads
