Tigers Eye Gemstone Chip Beads - 36" String

Tigers Eye is a member of the quartz family with a silky lustre. This opaque stone is usually cut as a cabochon to bring out the chatoyancy (or catseye effect). Tigers Eye usually has brown and golden stripes, although there is a blueish version known as 'Hawk's Eye'.

It can be found in South Africa, east Asia and Australia has a hardness of 7.0 on the Moh's scale.

It has been used as a gemstone since ancient times, with the Romans using it as a talisman. Tigers Eye is said to enhance courage and willpower and to promote creativity in those who wear it.
